Tattoo and fun in Edinburgh

The Tattoo, as a wrote in an earlier post, is a performance put on by different countries that involves synchronized marching, playing of instruments, and which possesses a military flair. Meghan and Jacob volunteered to work each show (30 straight days) in order to meet some locals in their new city. They were able to sneak me in the very last night and it was wonderful to see such a great display of country pride at such a great price. A ticket would have been about 43 Pounds (about $90). So, they outfitted me in one of their red Usher jackets and on we went, passing by the crowds queued up to get in, other volunteers, and the miliarty police. I immediately felt very authoritative and had to fight the urge to order people around, nevermind that I had no idea where the bathroom was when a patron asked me. But after that, I learned where it was and I was armed with knowledge, I was ready!

It was the centennial of the Tattoo. Check out the 100 spelled out by the performents. Meghan told me what the T A stood for but I have since forgotten.

Because it was the last performance, many fireworks were used.

Us enjoying the show. Oh did I mention that it was freezing and ungodly windy?

A shower of fireworks at the end of the show.

A shot of me in a "close" which is what they call an "alley". All the closes here have names.

Playing around.

Drinking around.

Watching other people playing around.

The Advocates close

A cafe very close to their apartment where we had breakfast one morning.

A shot from the top of the Royal Mile (from near the castle) down to the water.

Would you rather be remembered witha statue that birds like to use as a bathroom or with no statue at all?
